POW WOW 2008

Our POWWOW this year was very successful. The support from the Community and the SHOW OF COMMUNITY SPIRIT was very overwhelming despite the  few that expressed objections to returning our POWWOW back to its roots. It is very unfortunate that all attempts were made by a few to destroy this COMMUNITY SPIRIT including that of sabotage and denying the use of the Bands own Equipment. Many were made to believe that this was a competition POWWOW due to the insertion of a TRADITIONAL DANCE SPECIAL which demonstrated the skill of the Dancers.

We would like to thank the many members that donated articles for the give away, donated food, and most importantly, time and labour to make sure this community event went without a hitch. Your contribution did not go unnoticed as we received many positive comments from our visitors and guests.

We would like to thank the FRIDAY FAMILY for allowing the use of a sound system that BUD FRIDAY used while he was still with us. This alone made this years POW WOW that much more special. It was nice to hear the drums and singers amplified through its speakers again that he once took pride in.

Canoe Races made a comeback

The canoe races that once were a big part of the POWWOW made it's return this year and what an event it was. Despite the rain that came down, it did not dampen the spirits of the contestants or spectators. We had lots of entrants in which the organizers had to break them up in heats in the men's category as well as the couples category. This event was indeed very well organized and you could tell with the large turnout and the massive cheering that could be heard all over the Community. It was definately a fun event to be a part of and to watch
